About the IELTS Test

IELTS Listening Test
You have 30 minutes to answer four recordings. Hear the text only once and use 10 minutes to transfer answers. The recordings are either a conversation or monologue in a social or academic context.
IELTS Reading Test
You have 60 minutes to answer 40 questions. For Academic Reading, questions are based on 3 texts academic in nature. For General Training, 40 questions are based on general or work related topics.
IELTS Writing Test
You have 60 minutes to complete 2 writing tasks with at least 150 and 250 words. For Academic Task 1, describe a visual diagram. For Academic Task 2, write a short essay responding to an argument. For General Training, write a letter and a discursive essay.
IELTS Speaking Test
Speak with an IELTS examiner for 11-14 minutes. In Part 1, respond to questions on familiar topics. For Part 2, discuss topics on a task card. In Part 3, answer additional questions on the topic discussed in Part 2.
